ABBA started in the 70s, but the group is gaining a new popularity since the debut of the musical Mamma Mia. The musical is based on their songs and people are flocking to see it all around the country. However, many people needed no such coaxing to make them want to dress up in ABBA costumes.  Halloween and other costume parties are perfect times for dressing up in ABBA costumes. You can get with a group of you and three of your friends and impersonate the whole group. You will need some flashy clothes that are just the right style for ABBA costumes.

It seems that there is a higher demand for ABBA costumes in England than in the US, or at least there are more available. You may like the cat costumes like Agnetha and Frida wore for one show, but your friend may like the shiny layered ruffles of the Mamma Mia ABBA costumes. If you go to a store with plenty of choices, you should be able to find a set of costumes that will make everyone happy.

Do not stop at finding the satin boleros and capes that were so much a part of ABBA’s style. Look, too, for the accessories that go with them. Look for prop guitars with interesting shapes for the Bjorn character. Wigs are necessary to complete the ABBA costumes too.

A long blonde, slightly wavy wig would be perfect for the person dressing up like Agnetha. The person going as Frida has more choices, but a nice red wig is a good option. The Bjorn wig should be a sort of a mullet, while the Benny character needs facial hair.  White ABBA costumes are traditional for the group. They wore white jumpsuits with belled legs and sleeves and wide, pointy collars. Bright colors were used as well, with everyone in the group having a bit of the mutual color splashed across some part of their garb. The ABBA costumes for the group do not have to match exactly; they just to have a common theme running through them.

When you are searching for your ABBA costumes, try to find out how long the garments are expected to last. Some stores will say right on their websites that the ABBA costumes are not meant to last more than 2 or 3 wearings at most. If you want higher quality ABBA costumes, expect to spend much more money.
